TouchDeck
v1.0.1Turn any USB touchscreen into a first-class Mac touch console.
Two small apps that make a plain USB touchscreen feel native on a Mac. Touch Up is a user-space driver that turns raw touch data into reliable taps, drags, scrolls and multi-finger gestures. TouchKeys is an on-screen keyboard that appears whenever you tap into a text field. Built for a production Mac running ProPresenter from a touch panel, but it works for kiosks, lecterns and signage too.
An enhanced fork of shueber/Touch-Up, tuned against a real panel in a real booth.
Touch Up driver
- Reliable tap-to-click with a cumulative slop zone, so real fingertips register
- Hold-and-drag, one-finger scroll, pinch to zoom, two-finger right-click
- Three-finger swipes for Mission Control, App Exposé and Spaces; three-finger tap for previous app; four-finger pinch to quit
- Per-display mapping so touches land on the right monitor in a multi-screen booth
TouchKeys keyboard
- Fades in at the bottom of the touch display when a text field has focus, fades out when you tap elsewhere
- Pin mode from the menu bar, one-shot shift, numbers and symbols layer
- Handles Chromium and Electron apps (Chrome, VS Code, Slack) specially so their fields are detected
You’ll need
- A USB touchscreen that reports standard HID digitizer data. If it works on Windows without a driver, it works here.
- Xcode from the Mac App Store only if you build from source. The .dmg needs nothing extra.
- One-time Accessibility permission for both apps in System Settings.
The apps are ad-hoc signed, not notarized by Apple, so macOS asks you to approve each one on first launch. Building from source skips that step, since a locally compiled build is trusted automatically. Spotlight does not work with the keyboard because Spotlight closes on any outside tap.

What’s new in v1.0.1
Fixes crashes on Intel Macs and any macOS older than 26. If you tried v1.0 and it crashed on launch, this release fixes it — please re-download.
What was wrong
- TouchKeys was accidentally built for macOS 26 only, so it crashed on launch on macOS 12–15.
- Both apps were Apple-Silicon-only, so they could not run on Intel Macs at all.
Fixed in v1.0.1
- Both apps are now universal (Intel + Apple Silicon).
- Deployment target lowered to macOS 12 (Monterey), so they run on macOS 12 through 26.
Install
- 1.Download TouchDeck.dmg, open it, and drag both apps onto the Applications folder.
- 2.First launch: double-click each app, close the warning, then System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway, once per app. (Right-click › Open no longer works on macOS 15 Sequoia and later.) The apps are ad-hoc signed, not notarized.
- 3.Grant Accessibility to both apps, then open Touch Up and map your touchscreen to its display.
